Security Camera
Selecting the right security camera for your needs is serious business. It is certainly not an easy task as you may think. Today, there are multiple options on offer which make choosing one that much harder. For example, there are wireless security cameras with night vision or motion-detection capabilities; models, which can record in low light, and still others, that are weatherproof. To simplify the selection process, here are three advanced security camera systems you can rely on, noting that some camera models available in stores may possess some or all of the features and technical capabilities described below.
Web-Ready Wireless DVR Security Cameras
These cameras record in high-definition digital colour, and can handle anywhere between one and four wired/wireless channels. Many models are designed for continuous DVR recording of motion detection, from the time the sensors are activated and time modes set. Playback and viewing of video footage can be done, with or without remote, via a PC/laptop with web browser, and internet connection. Some advanced models can deliver a maximum recording duration of approximately two months and also possess night vision capabilities.
Indoor/Outdoor Weather-Resistant Cameras
Most top weather-resistant, security camera models are designed for both indoor and outdoor surveillance of homes and businesses. Outdoor versions are usually installed under roof overhangs or other inconspicuous places. Most units deliver crisp picture and audio quality for easy playback on a DVR, VCR or TV. You can also find some models with B/W night vision and motion-sensor features. These DIY security camera units are easy to install, and significantly cheaper than wireless, indoor/outdoor weather-resistant cameras.
Wired Night Vision Security Camera Systems
Installation of wired security cameras requires the services of professional installers because of the cabling and other work involved. However, despite this, they are still considerably less expensive than the more advanced wireless models. Insofar as picture quality, wired home security camera systems deliver reasonably clear color and B/W video footage and sound quality. Replay of picture recordings can be done on any standard VCR or TV. Another benefit of installing these indoor/outdoor, weather-resistant cameras is that they prevent interference, something that affects most wireless camera signals. Some units come with 100 ft cables, as well as infrared LED lights that permit viewing up to approximately 20 feet or more at night.
